Tesla Recalled 20,349 Model 3 and Model Y Headlights. Check Your VIN Before the September Letters
Is My Model 3 or Model Y in the 26v507 Headlight Recall?
Yes, if your VIN is in NHTSA campaign 26V507. It covers 20,349 U.S. Model 3 and Model Y vehicles whose low-beam headlights exceeded the federal photometric cap. Official split is 1,614 Model 3 (2017–2023) and 18,735 Model Y (2020–2023). Tesla filed Aug 4, 2026; letters by Sept 15. A remedy is still under development.
What to Do
Do this before you wait on the letter:
1. Check Service / Recalls in the Tesla app. In the car, use Controls > Service and look for 26V507.
2. Run the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. A blank result is not an all-clear if VINs are not listed yet.
3. Treat a headlamp replaced on or after June 2, 2023 as still in play.
4. Wait for Tesla’s remedy. There is no DIY brightness fix.
5. Call Tesla at 877-798-3752 and ask about recall SB-24-17-003.

How do I know if my VIN is included?
Enter your 17-digit VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or check the Service tab in your Tesla app. Campaign 26V507 covers 20,349 U.S. Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
Is there a fix available yet?
Not yet. Tesla listed the remedy as under development when it filed on August 4, 2026. Owner letters are scheduled to mail by September 15, 2026.
Can I still drive my car?
Tesla has not issued a stop-drive or park-outside warning for 26V507. The concern is low-beam brightness that can glare oncoming drivers, so use extra care at night until the remedy is out.
