Did Tesla extend my 2024–2025 Cybertruck PCS coverage?

The new term matches the truck's high-voltage battery and drive-unit warranty. It is a change from the 4-year / 50,000-mile basic vehicle limited warranty that originally covered the part. Tesla's wording, posted to the official Cybertruck account around July 31, is that it "identified PCS electronics in pre-2026 Cybertrucks that do not meet our reliability standards and have made design changes to address this in newer vehicles." 2026 Cybertrucks already ship with a redesigned PCS.

The PCS combines the onboard charger and DC-DC converter. When it fails, home charging can drop (Electrek reports 48 amps down to 24, then off) and, until a recent software change, Supercharging could go with it. Tesla's package, as reported by Electrek, Drive Tesla Canada, and Not a Tesla App: 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks (Foundation Series and standard) now have PCS coverage of 8 years / 150,000 miles, including after the 4-year / 50,000-mile basic warranty expires. The 2026 Cybertruck has a redesigned PCS, warranty 7 years / 70,000 miles. Owners who already paid out of pocket are to be reimbursed in the coming weeks; published repair figures before the extension were in the $5,000-$7,200 range. A software update lets a truck Supercharge even with a failed PCS, and Tesla is covering Supercharging for affected owners while replacement parts catch up. Tesla is on later hardware revisions (Not a Tesla App reports Revision G as current, with many trucks still on earlier revisions through F). It is not confirmed that every earlier-revision truck will get a proactive swap versus a repair when it fails or throws a warning. Owner-forum polls on PCS failures are self-selected and are not an official failure rate. Do not treat a 41% figure as Tesla's number.

Do this before you call Service:

1. Photograph the Tesla app Service screen, any PCS or charging alert, and the software version.

2. Save invoices if you already paid for a PCS replacement.

3. Message Tesla Service in writing. Ask whether your VIN is on the extended PCS coverage and how reimbursement will be issued.

4. Ask whether free Supercharging is already applied if you are waiting on a part.

5. Confirm the model year on a used truck. 2026 uses a different PCS and a shorter warranty term.
